With the LE46S86BDX you get a 46-inch, Liquid Crystal Display, digital television set that delivers a sharp and smooth image at a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels in a modest 160/150-degree viewing area. Included is Samsung’s DNIe, or “Digital Natural Image engine,” designed to optimize motion, improve color, reduce noise, and improve image clarity and is also HD Ready.
In the sound department this unit is keeping the pace with the competition. With two 10-watt audio outputs and SRS TruSurround XT surround sound processing for in-your-face surround sound and even a three dimensional stereo or mono experience, you’re going to like the audio that this unit puts out. If you plan to use headphones when watching your television, you’re out of luck with this model as there is no headphone connection.
In terms of connectivity the LE46S86BDX should get the job done. The unit serves up two HDMI connectors, one component connection, a PC video input port, two SCART ports, and even optical out for high-end sound systems. Though this unit won’t connect to everything known to man, it certainly will not leave you without any options!
An expected lifetime is oddly missing from the full specifications given by Samsung on their website. Some reviewers have given this unit low marks in respect to lifespan, but it’s hard to image a television set manufactured today that can’t survive standard wear and tear. There will almost certainly be new technologies available before this unit reaches the outer limits of its term for utility.
Capping everything off for this model are a handful of fairly standard Samsung features such as Picture In Picture, Game Mode, an auto volume leveler, Anynet+, and more. This television also comes with a <1-watt energy saving standby mode. In the end, this model should really meet your needs quite nicely.
